More Than a Name
My name is Lance Plant, and Blue Duck Land Management is more than just a business to me — it represents family, hard work, and legacy.
The name Blue Duck came about after a conflict with the original name I had chosen for the business. After talking it over with my family, Blue Duck became the obvious choice because of what it meant to us.
My late father, Larry Plant, used the name Blue Duck with many of his hobbies and even as part of his email address. He originally got the name from Lonesome Dove. Dad was also a Vietnam War veteran and Purple Heart recipient, and his work ethic and the example he set left a lasting impact on me.
Choosing Blue Duck gave me a way to carry a piece of my dad's legacy into something I'm building for the future.
I've spent more than 20 years in transportation, operations, leadership, and working as a diesel mechanic. Now I'm taking that experience and work ethic and putting it into building Blue Duck Land Management here in East Texas.
I'm also blessed with a loving wife, Keely, and two beautiful young-adult children, Landon and Kyndall. As I build this business from the ground up, I hope they see what hard work, determination, honesty, and taking a chance on yourself can accomplish.
My goal with Blue Duck is simple: do what I say I'm going to do, treat people right, provide quality work at a fair price, and build a reputation my family can be proud of.
Blue Duck connects where I came from with what I'm trying to build for the future. It's a son's way of carrying his father's legacy forward while building one for his own children.
That's what Blue Duck means to me.
